The Weiss DNA1 is a denoiser, declicker and ambience processor, and it is the unit that lets us accept material other rooms turn away. Archive transfers, tapes with hiss floors, files with digital clicks, live recordings with air-conditioning rumble — the DNA1 handles all of it in the digital domain with algorithms that still outperform most modern software.
The declicker
Genuinely remarkable on vinyl transfers and on files damaged by dropouts. It identifies and reconstructs the click without softening the transient around it, which is where cheaper tools fail.
The denoiser
Broadband noise reduction with a fingerprint approach that removes tape hiss and room noise while leaving reverb tails intact. Used at conservative settings it is inaudible; pushed hard it can rescue a recording that was otherwise unusable.
Hardware info
Weiss restoration hardware was always priced for broadcast and archive facilities, and the DNA1 remains one of the most valuable single boxes in the room.
