Our FCS P3S is the Class A edition fitted with discrete Cinemag transformers — a specification that turns an already excellent compressor into something with real weight in the low end.
The character
Where the Maselec disappears, the Foote leaves fingerprints, and they are flattering ones. The transformers round the very bottom and add a subtle forward push in the upper mids. On rock, soul and anything built around live drums, it makes a mix sound like it was tracked to tape.
How we deploy it
Usually in mid/side via the MTC-2, compressing the centre only. The kick and snare tighten, the vocal steps forward, and the stereo field stays completely untouched. It is one of the fastest routes we have to a master that feels "produced".
