§ 01

Sculpting, not correcting

The Michelangelo is a valve equaliser designed around a single question: what does a mix need to sound finished? It is not a full parametric — the band choices are deliberate — and that constraint is precisely why it works so fast.

Where it sits in our workflow

When a mix arrives already well balanced, the Michelangelo is often the only EQ in the path. A touch of top-end lift, a small subtractive move in the lower mids, and the valve stage does the rest: harmonic density that makes a digital mix feel like it was printed to something.

§ 03

The valve factor

Because the make-up gain runs through tubes, pushing the input harder is a tonal decision as much as a level one. We use that intentionally on quieter, dynamic material — jazz, acoustic, orchestral — where the last thing needed is a limiter but the master still needs presence.

Hardware info

Hand-wired in extremely limited runs, the Michelangelo sits in the upper tier of boutique valve mastering equalisers.
