The reason everything else can be judged
The PMC IB2 SE is our main reference monitor, and it is the most consequential purchase in the building. PMC's Advanced Transmission Line loading gives a low-frequency response that is genuinely flat and genuinely fast — no ported overhang, no invented bass, no flattery.
What "reference" actually means
It means the speaker will not help you. Every mistake in a mix arrives fully intact: the boxy 300 Hz, the sibilance, the bass note that is 4 dB hotter than the rest of the line. Working on IB2 SEs is initially unforgiving and permanently educational — masters that translate to car stereos, phones and clubs are made on speakers that tell the truth first.
Driven properly
Ours run from Hypex dual-mono NCx500 amplification with an SMPS1200A700 supply, corrected in-room by the Trinnov ST2 Pro. Speaker, amplifier and room correction are one system; changing any of the three would change the masters we deliver.

A pair of IB2 SEs is a five-figure monitoring investment before amplification, stands, cabling and acoustic treatment — and it is the last thing in this room we would ever compromise on.
